About

About MetaTheology.org

A project in axiomatic, comparative religion.

Purpose

MetaTheology.org is an attempt to compare religious and metaphysical traditions using a shared, minimal structure. Rather than beginning with narratives, polemics, or apologetics, each tradition is presented starting from its foundational assumptions (axioms).

The goal is not to adjudicate truth claims, but to make differences and similarities legible.

Method

Each tradition is described using the same sequence:

  • Axioms — non-derived starting assumptions
  • Derived commitments — doctrinal or metaphysical consequences
  • Ethics — normative orientation and moral reasoning
  • Practices — embodied and communal expressions

This structure is designed to support comparison without flattening internal diversity.

Scope and limits

MetaTheology.org operates at a high level of abstraction. Individual movements, denominations, and historical debates are simplified where necessary.

Internal diversity is acknowledged, but not exhaustively catalogued. Descriptions aim to be faithful rather than exhaustive.

Neutrality

The project does not promote, defend, or critique any particular tradition. All pages are written for clarity, not persuasion.

Where interpretive choices are unavoidable, they are made explicit.

Contributions

Corrections, clarifications, and improvements are welcome. Contributions should aim to increase precision, balance, and comparability.
